Distance-Delivered Early Childhood Education Associate of Applied Science Degree

Registering for Courses

The Distance ECE/AAS Program offers early childhood education courses to meet degree requirements each spring and fall semester. Limited summer courses are also offered in an ‘intensive’ or condensed format.

Remember to consult with your ECE Academic Advisor each semester before registering for classes. It is important to stay on your academic plan to avoid any setbacks in your education goals.

Your best resource to learn about courses offered is this web site. Both the University of Alaska Southeast and the College of Rural and Community Development currently mail printed Semester Course Schedules to post office boxes throughout their regions. However, the statewide course information for all Distance ECE courses is posted earlier each semester on this web site – on the HOME page, click on ECE Courses for the next semester course schedule or GER Courses to ‘link’ to the UAF/College of Rural and Community Development and UAS distance course schedules.

To register for courses, contact your registering campus during the semester registration period. On line registration is not available for all distance courses; a paper registration form is available on the CRCD Website or from your registering campus. The sooner you register, the more likely there will be space in the classes of your choice. Extra time also means your books and materials will arrive before your first class. See ORDERING TEXTBOOKS for more information on receiving your ECE course texts.

When you register for a course and sign your registration form, you are committed to attending the class meetings and fulfilling the requirements that the instructor outlines in the course syllabus. Always keep a copy of your registration form. You will reference it for your course title, dates and times of class meetings.

If your tuition is paid by your employer, you may not register online. You will need to submit a tuition authorization, signed by the employer, with your paper registration form. Without that you are legally responsible for your tuition fees. See your employer for more details. Note that the University computer system will ‘drop’ you from a course if tuition is not recorded as paid - this can lead to students not receiving course books and materials to begin a course, or after the course begins - suddenly being ‘locked out’ of online resources and email accounts. Call your ECE Academic Advisor or Student Support Services if you have questions about registration.
