Placement Testing

All students first entering college and all transfer students who have not completed freshman composition and mathematics requirements for their program will need to take English and mathematics placement tests before registering for these classes. Students who are admitted into the Distance ECE/AAS Program through UAS take the English test only. UAF/CRCD students take the math test as well.

You can take the English and mathematics placement tests at your registering campus or apply online for the handwritten placement tests. There are different requirements for different campuses, so be sure to indicate the campus where you will be admitted so that the appropriate test is sent to you. UAS students may also take placement tests online, but remember you will have to type your exam if you take it online.

For all placement tests a proctor is required to administer your exam(s). Your proctor may be a school librarian, a teacher or Village Health Aide. However, proctors cannot be related to you either by blood or marriage.

Contact your Distance ECE/AAS Academic Advisor or your registering campus for information about placement tests. If you don’t know your registering campus, go to the admission page and select the town or city nearest you.
